Ein Or Sof — translated from Hebrew, Infinite Light — is an exploration of the eigenvalue of transcendence.
Using quantum mechanics as a metaphor, this exhibition examines the sacrament of witness and the superposition of gender.
The exhibition intends to reinterprit Christian iconography from within its own doctrine. Ohr Ein Sof challenges the patriarchal translation that built the West — at a moment when the definition of humanity is being contested in real time.

"And God created Adamah in His image" — Genesis 1:27
Traditional translations of the moment of creation depict Adamah as Adam — man, masculine — created first. It is only in the following verse that the division of genders occurs. Meaning the first image of God — the original divine template — was not gendered. It was complete.
By positioning man as the original template, this translation places the entire biblical narrative — and by extension, development of Western history — from a male point of view. Woman becomes other. Secondary. Derivative. This single interpretive choice laid the foundation for a patriarchal structure that informed the Church, a colonial empire, capitalism, and the cultural and political climate we inhabit today. Adamah returns to the origin — honoring both masculine and feminine not as opposites in conflict, but as twin expressions of a single sacred wholeness.
The photograph centers Arabella La Desse: a transgender woman, artist, performer, and mother living and working in the Northeast. Adorned in both masculine and feminine Christian iconography — a gown constructed from the body of Christ, held in the traditional form of Our Lady of Guadalupe — she stands as an icon that refuses division. On a queer body, these symbols do not conflict. They complete each other — forming what alchemical tradition calls the rebis: the divine androgyne, the union of opposites, the completion of the Great Work.
This wholeness has many names: Adam Kadmon in Kabbalistic mysticism, Janus in Roman tradition, Ardhanarishvara in Hinduism, the Nommo in Dogon cosmology, the integrated Self in Jungian psychology. One argument, arriving from every direction.
The queer community often exihibts this duality daily, moving between masculine and feminine energies not as confusion but as fluency. This superposition of gender argues for recognition: that queer bodies reflect the image of God, as it was first written — and that in doing so, they hold something the rest of us are only beginning to remember.

Ruth is a meditation on impermanence. Untreated yet structurally sound, the font of light — like our bodies — will return to the earth. She does not fear. She holds it quietly, trusting in the ground that made her.

Referencing sacred feminine iconography on a queer body, Labor collapses the distance between maiden, mother, and crone — not in sequence but simultaneously, compressed into a single act of agony, ecstasy, and raw feminine resilience.
The Mother is not a gender but a posture — one of strength, vulnerability, and uncompromised compassion. A role some assume and one that some are thrust into. The image operates as a portal — transmuting the viewer simultaneously from a child being born into the one giving birth, dissociating the act of labor from the purely physical world. Motherhood, especially in queer communities, extends to births of the mind and spirit.
Our Mother, no matter who she is or was, is eternal.
